INNOVATIONS

The WV6-R Series vibrato boasts a vintage look, but with all the Wilkinson innovations included. With six barrel nickel-plated bent steel saddles and a top plate that matches classic vintage specs, the WV6-R is the closest thing to the original 1950’s unit.

Featuring a stagger drilling pattern and a billet steel block with deep drilling, the WV6-R achieves a more consistent break angle for the strings, resulting in a more stable and in-tune instrument.

TOTAL CONTROL

The Total control vibrato arm system on the WV6-R Series is packed with Wilkinson's proprietary innovations, allowing players to customize the arm tension and height for a perfect feel.

The internally threaded stainless-steel arm is securely anchored at the bottom of the vibrato arm hole with a matching screw/bolt and held in place by a delrin sleeve inserted into the block, which can be tensioned from the rear of the block. This system offers instant control with no arm lag, ensuring stability and precision for the player.

REENGINEERING HISTORY

The Wilkinson vibrato system's vintage plated nickel saddles provide clear and defined string separation and enhance the instrument's overall tone. Moreover, the system's internally threaded tremolo arm facilitates easy and stable operation, while maintaining accurate tuning capabilities. These features are essential aspects of the Wilkinson vibrato system.

5+1 KNIFE EDGE

The 5+1 design conceived by Trev Wilkinson for the VSV vibrato from our Pro series was developed to alleviate the issues found on the traditional 6 screw vibrato.

THE PROBLEM
Same size screw holes on the base-plate with little clearance for movement, and misaligned screws which commonly occur when inserting the 6 pivot screws cause tuning instabilities and binding issues on the vibrato unit.

THE SOLUTION
Elongate 5 of the 6 holes across the lateral knife edge to allow for misalignment of screws and offer more freedom of movement thus avoiding binding, the sixth hole is used as the reference and index point for the vibrato and stops any sideward’s movement once the unit is fitted.
