Quality and value for money as ever from Wilkinson hardware. Smart and well made machine heads. Doing exactly what is needed, looking great and a an affordable but significant upgrade to often cheap feeling 'standard' die-cast machine heads.

I needed to replace a broken machine head on a Gretsch Electromatic this fit perfectly – it's not exactly the same length of turning shank but it's not that noticeable that it's different, and the handle itself is pretty much identical too. It looks different from behind (don't we all) – the fixing plate is a different design, and the cog is black and not gold, which is the biggest difference. In terms of operation, I think it might actually be a better quality than the original machine head, but it's early days. The only drawback I can see is that I now have 5 spares, but who knows maybe I will need them. My best advice is don't let your Electromatic fall over sideways – mine was in a padded, soft guitar case, and fell over slow, but the machine head broke with surprising ease, suggesting to me that they are not actually that good, despite the cost of the guitar. First time I've ever let a guitar fall over – total accident – but won't be doing that again!
