400ml Nitrocellulose paint/lacquer
We stock a wide range of high quality nitrocellulose lacquers and paints suitable for use on any guitar project.
We’ve produced a range of colours found on popular guitar models and used our own Strat and Tele bodies for reference.
This is the same type of lacquer as used on vintage Fender and Gibson guitars which, over time, will produce an aged, tarnished look to your instrument. These are true lacquers, as used by top guitar makers since the 1950s. They dry very quickly and produce a hard glassy finish, unlike other “pre-cat” lacquers
Transparent lacquer with a glossy finish
400ml aerosol with eliptical nozzle
Reliable and easy to use - Aerosol produces a consistent fine spray
Each can is enough for 6-8 coats of a Telecaster sized body (depending on coat thickness)
These paints and lacquers are very easy to apply and generally require no sanding in-between coats.
Tip: We recommend adding 4-5 coats of clear gloss over the top of all colours for protection and a deeper glossy shine.
Use only in a well ventilated area. Suitable breathing apparatus should be worn
*Colour may vary slightly depending on number of coats applied, wood type and preparation method.

I have used the full range of aerosols for my first project from sanding sealer to color to clear coat. The cans work really trouble-free and I was able to achieve a great result. Easy, trouble free spraying..

Good varnish good results as long as you are patient and allow proper drying time between coats and leave for about 4 weeks for final sanding and buffing
Great product and service.

I got this to go over the Tobacco Nitro that I bought at the same time on a neck break repair. Excellent results. I've been using cans to finish guitars for 30 plus years and this is as good as I've seen. No splutter and a good nozzle for an even coat. Great price and fast delivery. I will be buying this (and more) from Northwest Guitars again. Many thanks.

Jazz bass neck refinish
Posted by C M Stevens on 27th Jun 2017
My first time using nitrocellulose. I sprayed two coats of amber tinted onto a stripped Jazz bass neck (it colours the wood quickly and three coats would have been too much) and I'm in the process of building up layers of clear gloss. No problems so far and I've found the lacquers very easy to work with... but I'm taking my time!

I really like the result of using the clear gloss. I did have a problem with a several blooms, but heated the can in a bowl of hot water before the next coat and it seemed to solve this problem. My only concern is that for the price I had to use 2 full cans to get a good coat on an s-type body, still not perfect even so.

have used Northwest Guitars Nitro paints in cans for several years and can throughly recommend them.
They cover well and are excellent value.
Plus Kevin and his team are always very helpful.
